Due to growth, we are seeking an experienced Commercial Lead to join the Saunders International team at our head office based in Rhodes, NSW.
Reporting to the General Manager - Commercial, you will be a part of the Commercial Team that is responsible for leading and driving the commercial/legal function in Saunders International and your responsibilities will include tasks related to the following activities:
- Review of Client Terms and Conditions for prospective Contracts, including identifying and addressing amendments required to align with related company policies.
- Review of Confidentiality Agreements and similar documents including identifying and addressing amendments required to align with related company policies.
- Review of proposed changes to Standard Terms of Purchase by Suppliers and Subcontractors to ensure alignment with company policies
- Participate as required in any negotiations related to the above activities
- Prepare correspondence as required for the above activities
- Assist with preparation of rights and obligations in relation to Client Contracts to help Project Teams administer Contracts efficiently
- Assist Project Teams with preparation of correspondence relating to agreements with Clients, Suppliers and Subcontractors, including variations, extensions of times and delay costs.
- Assist with preparation of Contractual Claims
- Liaise with external Legal Advisors as required in relation to claims, related advice etc
- Liaise with Insurance Brokers in relation to Contract Insurance and claims.
- Help develop and maintain Standard Terms of Sale to support tender submissions, where required.
- Help develop and maintain Standard Terms of Purchase to support procurement of goods and services
- Maintaining accurate and comprehensive records related to tasks.
- Any other tasks that are related to the commercial/legal function
ABOUT YOU
Essential
- Commercial or Legal qualification(s) – or alternatively, having the experience to support a sound understanding of contracts and related legal principles to undertake the role.
- Strong written and oral communication skills in the English language
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in a similar role in the construction and/or engineering industry
- Sound knowledge of Australian Standard and similar forms of contracts related to the construction and engineering industry
- Strong time management and multi-tasking skills
- Ability to respond to a changing work environment
- Strong Microsoft Office Suite experience
- Analytical mind to identify and propose solutions and system/process improvements.
Desirable
- Flexibility with occasional short duration travel related to tasks if required.
